Detox Simplified! Stay on a Farm in Thindivanam!

Vaksana brings you the best of luxury and comfort.

Bustling cities are a display of urban life amid disorder. Mega-residences compete for space with long commutes, congested flyovers, and crowded trains. Travelers stay in five- and seven-star luxury suites and lodges where bending the walls to fit extra luggage is not an option.

In such a case, any traveler who likes a leisurely pace would look for a hotel that provides the best of both worlds. After much pondering, the possibility of finding a picturesque, rural, yet contemporary place to stay is true bliss. I then unlocked the gates of otherwise inaccessible private vacation houses to families yearning for holidays that extended beyond checklists of must-sees and must-dos!

The country’s officially rainy season has begun, so this is the ideal time to cleanse and detox from the inside out. In certain cultures, rain is a sign of purification. Grandmoms at Work!

We all rely on cookbooks, cooking shows on television, and wisdom passed down from our grandparents. Of course, the braver would try new things in the kitchen, recalling the successes and mercifully forgetting the failures.

Nowadays, many food blogs offer delectable recipes, helpful hints, and beautiful photos, tempting us to head straight to the kitchen or the supermarket. Hundreds of culinary blogs are available to entice your taste buds. But of course, we cannot get close to the precision in the art that our elders have when it comes to cooking. Grandmas express their love by cooking delicious meals for the whole family — as it is for many grandparents.

Cooking was an inherent talent. Most of the time, friends appreciated their cooking and made me ponder the possibility of taking it up as my profession. When the farm stay was started, it helped convert their culinary skills into a full-fledged kitchen for the farm stay.

Every day, Lakshmi and Kasthuri amma feed entire families visiting the farm stay with finger-licking, modestly priced, exquisite meals that leave their taste buds fulfilled and tummies purring with happiness, leaving them wanting more.

These places are known for their beauty and magnificence. The beautiful place V is home to many destinations ideal for spiritual visits, family holidays, and even a break with a group of friends. Along with excellent sightseeing opportunities, there is a time to soak into prayer. The tranquillity places like Tindivanam offer are unmatched. Here are a few places you must visit while at Vaksana Farm Stay.

Sri Mailam Murugan Temple

Mailam, also known as Mayilam, is fifteen kilometres from Tindivanam and thirty kilometres from Pondicherry. The temple is connected to Bomayapalaiyam village on the Coromandel coast, quite close to Pondicherry, where the Veera Saiva mutt is established. Pommayapuram Mathadhipathi built the temple atop the hill on a magnificent scale, and it has been well maintained. The Mutt, located at the foot of the mountain, looks after the temple administration and provides services to the general public. This is a beautiful attraction near our farmhouse and a must visit place. Murugan devotees flock to the village during Thaipusam.

Gingee Fort/ Senji Fort – Troy Of The East

The British named it the “Troy of the East.” because of its clever architectural marvel. This is a well-kept archaeological site with a lot of history!! You will need a day to investigate and climb the fort.

There are a lot of lawns and banyan trees. The place appeals to children. Three citadels are located on three hills within the fort. Each fortress is a stand-alone structure. It is surrounded by an eight-mile-long wall and an 80-foot-wide moat.

Take a look around to see where the Gingee guards might be stationed. A seven-story Wedding Hall, prison cells, a military gymnasium, and other facilities can be found inside the fort. Various emperors have claimed and regained the Gingee throughout history, all desiring possession of
its formidable fortress. It was ruled by the Marathas, Mughals, French, and British before being abandoned in the nineteenth century.

Sri Lakshmi Narayanaswamy Temple

Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal is the deity in the temple, while Amman (Thayar) is next to it. Perumal Koil is the other name of the temple. Mahalakshmi sits on Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy’s left lap in the sanctum, holding a lotus in her left hand and Narasimhar in Her right. Mahalakshmi is seated on the left lap, and her hands are in the Anjali hastha / adoring posture in Urchava murti Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. A wonderful temple – a must visit when one is in Tindivanam.

Auroville

A 50-minute drive from the farmhouse is the famous, serene Auroville. Auroville is an experimental community in the Viluppuram district in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu. Auroville is a collection of residential properties 12 kilometres, 7.5 miles north of Pondicherry. The East Coast Road (ECR), which connects Chennai with Pondicherry, is a convenient way to get there. The visitor centre and Matrimandir are located 6 kilometres west of the ECR Bommayapalayam turnoff. Turning east leads to Auroville’s private beach, Repos, only a few hundred metres away.

Tiruvannamalai

Arunachalesvara Temple, also known as Annamalaiyar Temple, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at the base of Arunachala hill in the Tamil Nadu town of Thiruvannamalai.
Combining a vacation with a temple visit is a fantastic idea. You can have the best of both worlds. Some places provide a wide diversity of viewpoints. This is especially useful for people who want to spend uninterrupted time with their families. You can go to the Shiva temple at the top of the hill, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty.

Veedur Dam

The Veedur Dam is located around 150 kilometres from Chennai. It is on the GST route, right on the highway between Tindivanam and Villupuram. It is marked by an arch that leads to the dam and park. Even though the day was sunny, it was not hot (due to the winter season and one of the reasons I chose to visit the dam), and the cool breeze was enough to cause small waves in the water to smash like the sea.

Why do we all love Grandmas cooking

Why do we all love Grandmas cooking?

In an age of ever-expanding, boundary-pushing food advances, keeping in mind previous generations’ wisdom is priceless. Several “lost foods” have been making a comeback in farms and fields and on our plates in recent years.

If you go to the farmer’s market, freeze the homemade stock in containers or a repurposed curd container or make pickles or jam, you have embraced “grandma cooking,” consciously or unconsciously. Grandma’s cooking is the frugal, intuitive, inherently seasonal, and tasty approach to food preparation—the kind of cuisine that nourishes and pleasures without extraneous flash. Local seasonal and fresh is what is recommended by dieticians across the world today. We seem to be following them religiously. This message comes with a strong lesson. We need to be in touch with our roots to be healthy.

A loving mother has been one of the significant influences on our love of cooking for many of us. This generated such a passion in some of us that we decided to make food and nutrition our life’s motto! Grandmothers cooked from scratch to make healthful and delectable meals. They grew the vegetables themselves. They received traditional wisdom and abilities, which they might pass to future generations. Putting a delicious was not complicated.

Two such powerful women, a mother-daughter duo are creating a storm with their nutritious and tasty meals. They are Laxmi Ammal and Kasturi Sivaraman. They provide guests with a taste of village life while also providing modern conveniences at Vaksana Farm Stay. Ammal and Kasturi Sivaraman prove that it is never too late to chase your passion. They have served over 200 guests since they started in 2021. They believe in providing farm-fresh meals and presenting the finest of village life to them. They are highly delighted to do what they do, waking up in the wee hours of the morning.

In recent years, heritage dishes have vanished due to nuclear families’ reliance on cheap and quick meals and newer generations of women’s aversion to spending hours in the kitchen. Kitchens are now the new area for artistic expression, thanks to the popularity of food presentation.

The essence of mothering comes from having a dedicated person in the kitchen preparing food carefully and lovingly for you. They never made lives easy by taking shortcuts. Today, we discuss women’s empowerment in all debate forums. Still, we forget that empowering women is also respecting that cooking in the kitchen is as essential as working a 9 to 5 job. Our mothers and grandmothers were proud homemakers. They loved their jobs of being at home, enjoying with the children, and preparing lovely meals for the family. The more you cook, the more patterns and a culinary muscle memory develop. This is the ethos they believe in.

Some things to know about grandmother’s cooking are:
There is always enough food to go around,
Share what you have, and serve your offerings with a smile.
Never refuse to feed a child food.
Things are less significant than people.
