Chapter 5

Creating Your First Offer or Product

You Don’t Need to Be “Big” to Start Selling
One of the most common myths is that you need a big audience, fancy website, or investment to launch something. That’s not true.

You just need a clear offer that solves a small problem or brings joy to someone. Your first product doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be real and useful.

Let’s build your first offer from what you already know and love.

Your Offer = Passion + Value + Simplicity

An offer is anything someone can say yes to. It can be a service, product, session, digital tool, handmade craft, or experience. Here’s a simple formula:

Passion (what you love doing)
+
Value (what people find useful or enjoyable)
+
Simplicity (easy to say yes to)

First Sellable Offer

From Storytelling to Workshops

A woman who loved telling bedtime stories to her children began recording them casually on her phone. Friends asked for more. She turned it into a weekly storytime on Zoom for kids. She charged a small fee and added personalized stories. Now she runs paid storytelling workshops for parents and teachers.

Her first offer? ₹199 for one story session per child.

The Weekend Nature Walk

At Vaksana Farms, we didn’t begin with full-scale stays and retreats. The first offer was just a simple guided farm tour. Guests could walk through the fields, interact with animals, and enjoy a fresh herbal drink. That first experience helped us learn what people loved—and we built from there.

Your first offer can be just one step. Not the whole staircase.

The Digital Artist’s First Commission

A 21-year-old illustrator posted her sketches online for fun. One day, someone DM’d her asking, “Can you draw my dog?” That one sketch turned into pet portrait commissions. Then came eBooks, stickers, and workshops. She didn’t plan it—but she listened and responded.

Types of First Offers You Can Try (Based on Passion)

Passion Simple Offer Idea
Cooking Host a recipe class or meal delivery
Gardening Sell seed kits or conduct workshops
Writing Offer bio-writing, resumes, blog content
Drawing Take custom portrait or logo requests
Music Teach a beginner session
Farming Host farm visits or grow kits
Public speaking Run a communication skills class

How to Present Your Offer Simply

Try this framework when writing or saying your offer:

“Hi! I help [type of people] with [what you offer] so that they can [benefit]. My first [class/product/session] is available for ₹___ and starts on 2025.”

Example:

“I help beginner writers create their first blog posts so that they can confidently share their voice. My weekend writing session is ₹399 and starts this Saturday.”

Workbook Exercise: Build Your First Offer

What is one skill or activity you already enjoy doing?

Who do you think would benefit or enjoy it?
What format can you use? (live session, product, digital file, call, etc.)
What is a small, simple version of this offer?
How much time will it take to deliver?
What tools or materials do you already have?
What will you charge to start? (Keep it simple)
How will people contact or pay you? (UPI, WhatsApp, Instagram DM, etc.)
When will you launch it?
What will be the name/title of your first offer?

Final Words

You don’t have to wait to “be ready.” You don’t need a business card or a perfect plan. You just need one small offer that brings joy or help to someone.

Once you make your first sale, everything changes. You gain confidence. You realize, “I can actually do this.” And that’s how your passion starts paying you back.
