Farm Stay Workshop

About Event

Vaksana Farms is a 13-acre natural, organic permaculture farm located in a beautiful, remote, picture-postcard village. Three beautiful farmhouses are set amidst the fruit orchards for people to stay and experience farm life firsthand. You interact with many farm animals: cows, calves, pony, rabbits, dogs & puppies. Two large ponds are filled with rainwater, which is excellent for swimming. The highlight of the stay here is the homely food prepared by 90-year-old Lakshmi Paati and her daughter, 72-year-old Kasthuri Ammal.

1. Offer guests mobile check-in experiences
Long lines of guests waiting to check in are no fun for anyone, especially when you’re understaffed. That’s why hotels are deploying new guest-facing technology and software tools to save time, improve customer service and reduce fraud. One such solution is contactless – or mobile – check-in. Implementing a mobile check-in solution streamlines the arrival experience for guests by allowing them to check in remotely from their mobile device, and enables hotels to add upsell offers to the check-in process.

2. Offer upsells and room upgrades in a convenient, unobtrusive way
Every hotel operator wants to increase profits. And one of the best ways to do that is to increase upselling opportunities. After all, if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Most guests would be willing to pay a little more for secure parking, airport transfers or early check-in/late check-out.
But the list doesn’t end there. Get creative with upsell ideas such as spa add-ons or room upgrades.

3. Empower your workforce
One of the most important elements of a hotel business is the people who make it run. One of the best improvements you can make is to invest in and empower your staff. Treat your staff like customers and you may notice a difference in output and performance.
Invest in regular training for each department and get creative with it. This could be in the form of customer service role-playing, for example, where people are encouraged to think and improvise. Give them a budget for free upgrades or extra services when there are complaints. Your employees will thank you, and so will your guests.

4. Capture more guest information at check-in
The more guest information your hotel can capture, the better. From names and emails to dietary restrictions or preferences, detailed information can help you improve the guest experience from before to after their stay.

5. Prioritise preventive maintenance
Preventive maintenance is important to keep hotel facilities and areas in good working order and avoid repair costs. It also helps you extend the life of hotel assets and anticipate when certain items need to be replaced, allowing you to better plan your budget.

Even if your hotel is probably already doing this, there are many ways to improve your maintenance systems. For example, regularly inspect lighting fixtures, HVAC systems and electrical equipment throughout the building.
