Several years ago, Vaksana Farms welcomed a guest who left behind more than memories  he gave us a timeless gift. His name was Tomoaki-san, a senior executive at Japan Post, who arrived at our farm carrying the heavy burden of burnout and work-related stress. His doctors and psychologists had recommended Shinrin-yoku, the Japanese practice of forest bathing, a healing art that encourages people to immerse themselves in the embrace of nature.

Discovering Healing Through Nature

When Tomoaki-san came to Vaksana Farms, he was seeking exactly that a place where fresh air, trees, and open fields could help restore his tired mind and body. From the very first day, he fully embraced farm life. He joined in plowing the fields, planting seeds, harvesting produce, and even caring for the animals.

Each day, we noticed subtle changes in him. The stress lines on his face softened, his laughter grew more frequent, and his presence became lighter. He often shared how the calm rhythms of nature and the oxygen-rich environment seemed to dissolve the anxiety of his corporate life. The simplicity of farm life was working as a natural antidote one that no medicine could replace.

A Gift of Trees

Just before his departure, Tomoaki-san decided to leave something behind. He purchased casuarina and bamboo saplings, both known for their air-purifying qualities, and planted them in a large circle on our land. At the time, we didn’t completely understand the significance. He smiled and said, “Give it a few years, and you’ll see.” We didn’t realize then that he was planting more than trees he was planting a sanctuary.

The Circle of Calm

Eight years later, Tomoaki-san’s vision stands tall and green. The circle of casuarina and bamboo has grown into one of the most cherished spots at Vaksana Farms. Their branches form a natural canopy, creating a space where the temperature drops by at least a degree. The gentle rustle of bamboo leaves, the cool shade, and the serene energy of the circle make it the perfect retreat.

Today, it is our favorite place to host workshops, meditation sessions, and quiet reflections. Thousands of guests who have visited the farm have experienced the peace of this circle a living, breathing reminder of one man’s journey of healing and the wisdom of Shinrin-yoku.

Forest Bathing at Vaksana Farms

Tomoaki-san taught us that nature heals best when we simply allow ourselves to be present in it. His practice of forest bathing was not about doing, but about being breathing in the freshness, listening to the sounds of the earth, and letting the mind find stillness in the company of trees.

Every time we walk into that circle of trees, we are reminded of his story and of the power of nature to restore balance, calm, and joy. At Vaksana Farms, we invite every guest to experience this gift of nature. Whether you choose to walk amidst our greenery, rest under the shade of the bamboo, or join in farm activities, you may find like Tomoaki-san did that the farm gives back far more than you expect.  Contact Mrs Sujani +91 98412 82266 and book your stay!
